Arturia like to deal in Classics whether its emulating them in software format or producing their own synths that receive legendary status instantly. They understand at the centre of your studio you need a piece of kit that is versatile and may need to handle anything at any time, that's where the Keystep steps in. After the huge success of the Beatstep Arturia decided it was time to release a 32 key powerhouse that could communicate with older synths but also handle the challenges of a modern studio.
Keys
Featuring 32 slim, velocity sensitive keys which all have after touch capability. This means when you are interfacing with different synths whether analogue or virtual you still have the ability to fully express what you play in a gorgeous and petite form factor.
Buttons and controls
The Transport buttons control the sequencer, the arpeggiator, and external MIDI devices using MIDI Machine Control. This huge amount of power is presented in such an uncluttered yet logical way, it just makes sense. The Polyphonic step sequencer has 8 memory slots, which can be recalled whenever you want.
You have full control over gate times and swing settings while chord play mode can help make some complicated chords so easy that you can do them with 1 finger.
Also that super cool Arp you can make some wicked melodies and adjust time and rate all on the fly.
Connectivity
All these features are great but wouldn't it e cool if you could apply all this to some of your external gear? Lets say you have a synth that you want to run through the keystep so you get those cool 1 finger chords. Well with Keystep you get standard MIDI in and out, clock sync and DIN sync jacks , and CV/GATE outputs, plus a separate, assignable modulation CV output that can be used with the mod wheel, velocity or aftertouch. This amount of connections on such a small and portable interface makes the Keystep a HUGE game changer
