It's more enjoyable for every pianist when the instrument is in tune. If you accept the challenge to learn this new skill/hobby, there are some really useful tips:
ⅰMute out all the multiple strings on individual notes so you can tune the whole scale of the piano then go back and do the unison strings on each note;
ⅱThe hardest thing is to make sure you are on the correct string: Don't be on the wrong peg, it will fool you into tightening and breaking a string. If you don't hear the note change when you move the lever, even slightly, make sure your have the key on the correct peg;
ⅲ This kit has everything you need to tune your piano except a wrench. If you don't have a good ear, is probably best left to the professionals, but if you do, this is the way to go;
ⅳ Thanks for the YouTube videos resources, by using a good tuning app to get the central octave or the book for info on how to do it, or buy a digital tuner, after 3-4 touch ups with a lot of patience, I believe you can listen to the beautiful music on our upright piano.
