Machined from 6061 Aluminium and then covered in Nickel plating to stop corrosion, it is then coated in a hard wearing Military Grade ceramic layer using advanced electrostatic application techniques to guarantee a hard wearing finish that is resisitant to scratches and marks.
This then is the outside of the NT1. A mic designed from the ground up to be a marriage of innovation and traditional ways, starting off with the capsule , which is a brand new design, featuring a sound that reminds you of old style famous Mics but with an extremely low noise floor.
It has a very detailed Mid-range response, with smooth high frequencies and warm bottom end. The transducer is suspended inside the Microphone using the Lyre system so as to minimize any external vibrations at the capsule level. Add this to the super high grade electronics and we end up with a mic that has been designed to have the lowest noise level of any studio mic available, measuring only 4.5 dBA of self noise.
It is supplied with the new Rode SMR shock mount. Featuring a unique double-Lyre suspension system, the SMR enhances the existing superior vibration cancellation of Rycote's Lyre system by using a smaller inner Lyre to act as a tensioning element. This maintains each Lyre in the neutral position where it is most efficient at cancelling vibration. The SMR's removable all-metal pop filter is as effective as it is visually striking, providing an integrated solution for plosive protection that is easily washable and designed to last as long as the shock mount and microphone.
