The Electro-Harmonix RTG Random Tone Generator is a reissue of a Electro-Harmonix synth guitar effects pedal from the 1980s and features a more than octave range, speed control, and glide (portamento) option. A single synthesizer voice randomly generates tones across more than four octaves. Rate knob controls the speed at which the random tones are generated. The Random Tone Generator pedal can be used together with a ring modulator or vocoder.
Portamento is also known as glissando or glide where if you play one note after another the pitch changes gradually at a predetermined rate from the first pitch to the second, gliding from one note to the next.
