Dominant strings have a highly flexible, multi-stranded nylon core and cater for musicians who feel uncomfortable with steel strings yet require similarity in tone and response to gut strings, without the guts' attendant drawbacks. (Please note the E string is aluminium-wound steel.) The sound is full and mellow and rich in overtones. Its radiance, its ability to project sound without metallic, comes to the fore both in arco and pizzicato.
